For now, I have for the most part put my paints aside to explore back where I started my career in Design – combining my love for both Art and Textile Work by drawing and painting with threads, but I do still enjoy painting florals with watercolours and fluid acrylics when the mood strikes. Most recently, I have been creating Art Dolls with passion. I’ve had several attempts at making dolls mostly in clay, but I’m loving creating them as soft sculpures.

My work is available privately and through Hello Studios by LovISart in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

My dolls are in My Shop and I will be making shop update announcements a week in advance when a new batch of dolls will be posted, hopefully, every month.

Dear Laurel Art Dolls

My Art Dolls are not toys but can be posed and displayed and handed down for many years to come. Gentle hugs and kisses are expected and always welcomed though. Clothes and accessories are sewn on and not removable (except for capes, vests and scarves) and hair is permanently styled. The doll’s arms and legs have been hand-sewn on with embroidery thread. All my dolls are made with muslin, linen or cotton with poly stuffing, natural wool for hair, modern, found, recycled and vintage fabrics and embellished with hand embroidery and other findings. Raw edges and fraying fabrics, thread knots and visible stitching were all part of the plan and were included with artistic intent. Gentle cleaning/dusting is recommended only when needed and you are welcome to repair her if ever needed. Each Art Doll is in between 11 1/2″ – 13″ high and she can sit or stand with the assistance of a doll stand. Each doll comes with her latest letter written to Laurel and a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
